As a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, she served as the Vice President of Recruitment, during which she hosted leadership workshops for peers, and organized events for over 1200 other college women at Ohio State. She was awarded the Panhellenic Association Academic Scholarship for displaying academic excellence as a member of Sorority & Fraternity Life. As a member of sophomore and junior class honorariums, Chelsey engaged in a number of Ohio State traditions which included the guarding of the famed “Illibuck” trophy and engaging in service opportunities related to The James Cancer Research Hospital.

For three years, Chelsey conducted undergraduate research on liver cancer therapies and personalized medicine through Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. She was the recipient of a $2000.00 fellowship from The Ohio State University administration, has presented her work at many research symposiums, and was the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Best in Show for her work. Upon oral defense of her thesis to an academic committee, she was awarded “Graduation with Research Distinction in Molecular Genetics”, an honor awarded to fewer than 3% of graduating students at Ohio State. She was also selected by departmental faculty to serve as a research mentor for other undergraduates.

This upcoming Autumn, Chelsey plans to attend graduate school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she will earn her Master of Science in Medical Physiology. Following completion of this degree, she then plans to apply to medical school with aspirations of pursuing a medical career in oncology.
